The Marketing Controls Manager will own the marketing controls landscape including Financial Promotions and ensure M&S Financial Services communications are compliant and deliver good outcomes for customers, in line with Policies and Controls.
As an accountable compliance SME in financial promotions you will provide advice to marketing managers, oversee the approvals process and controls landscape, and provide approvals for marketing materials. You will also feed into broader governance processes to ensure First Line risks and controls are closely monitored, documented and escalated appropriately.
What You’ll do
- Accountable for overseeing marketing controls for our First Line team and ensuring Policies and Controls are implemented correctly.
- Providing "early engagement" consultancy to Marketing Campaign Managers that ensures ideas are explored within the realms of the regulation.
- Integrating compliance thinking into creative development process.
- Responsible for marketing collateral approvals ranging from external media (PPC, OOH, social media) to owned channels (emails, on-site banners, in-store POS) ensuring that all materials meet FCA and ASA expectations, deliver fair outcomes for customers and protect M&S from reputational risk.
- Ownership of approvals process including Diligent platform.
- Providing thought leadership and expertise on FS industry principles including FCA, ASA, HMRC, Consumer Credit etc.
- Ensuring knowledge is kept fresh and up-to-date through regular and thorough CPD.
- Assisting training and continuous professional development for the First Line marketing team.
- Providing recommendations for in-house Controls improvements to ensure "best in class" processes.
- Working alongside Second Line Compliance colleagues to ensure monitoring, testing and audits are completed successfully and routinely, creating action plans where necessary.
Who you are
- Significant experience working in Financial Services, preferably with experience working with consumer credit.
- Significant experience working directly with Financial Promotions.
- Demonstrable knowledge of regulations, laws and codes of conduct relating to financial promotions including the FCA COBS, ICOBS, and CONC financial promotion rules; Advertising Standards Authority and the Committee of Advertising Practice Codes of Practice, and Consumer Duty.
- Excellent stakeholder management, working with a range of internal and external colleagues.
- Sound knowledge of a range of marketing channels.
- A clear customer focus, with ability to provide guidance that prioritises good customer outcomes.
