The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) is an independent governance body. It sets a definitive, independent global threshold for the voluntary carbon market so high-quality carbon credits can unlock private finance to reduce and remove emissions that would not otherwise be viable.

The Associate Director role is a crucial part of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market’s growing Public Affairs team. The Public Affairs team is working with governments and market representatives around the world to build alignment in regulatory frameworks and help bring consistency to the market.

The Associate Director is responsible for executing policy outreach projects and developing relationships with sovereign actors, with a particular focus in Asia and international government organisations. Asia is a growing and important market for carbon markets and the Integrity Council is aiming to step up engagement within the region.

The role supports gathering of knowledge and intelligence on major policy developments across the global public sector, developing strategy and implementation of stakeholder engagement, and stakeholder outreach. A major part of the Associate Director’s work is to establish, maintain, and broaden the relationship network among policymakers in national regulatory bodies and international organizations.

This role directly supports the Public Affairs Director and, in related functions, other members of the Senior Leadership Team, as well as ICVCM Governing Board members as needed. The Associate Director for Public Affairs is an outward-facing position and the individual is expected to be representing ICVCM at public industry events, working groups and committees the ICVCM is a member of, and bilateral meetings with relevant stakeholders.

Whilst the role is home-based, significant travel can be expected. We are looking for an individual who has extensive (likely to be 10+ years) experience in government or corporate affairs, and has exceptional communication skills, comfortable with public speaking and in conversation with political and C-suite stakeholders.

You will also need knowledge of carbon markets, with deep understanding of the voluntary carbon market, jurisdictional compliance markets and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. Experienced in partnership development and diverse stakeholder management, you will have a proven background in strategy and policy development.

This is a fully remote role, with genuine global flexibility on location; due to the travel involved in this role, we recommend you are based in a location with easy access to international travel connections.

We offer a competitive benefits package, including life assurance and income protection policies, employee assistance programme and discount shopping portal in all locations; other elements vary slightly based on location and can be discussed during the recruitment process.

Salary based on UK market rates would be £80k-£90k; salary based on Indian market rates would be 3m-3.5m INR; and in other locations will be adjusted based on your local market rates.
