Job Summary

The Artist Engagement Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the strategic goals of the Arts Department, aligning with the company’s vision. This individual will leverage their extensive artworld connections and curatorial expertise to enhance the company’s artist network, foster partnerships, and oversee the development of artist opportunities and annual programme of engagement events.

In this role, engagement involves building strong relationships with our existing network of artists, designing programmes that elevate their visibility and growth, and actively responding to their needs with tailored strategies. It also includes creating meaningful opportunities for artists to connect with clients, projects, and the wider arts community. Reporting directly to the Arts Director, the Artist Engagement Manager will be a key driver of the team’s success, ensuring exceptional outcomes for our artists, clients, and the wider business.

Job Requirements

  • Art World Expertise: Focused knowledge of the artworld, including curatorial practices, consumer trends and artist liaison requirements.
  • Network and Relationships: Proven connections with high-calibre artists and art institutions. Ability to support artists on a personal level, to encourage their growth and development.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small team effectively.
  • Negotiation Skills: Expertise in contracts, negotiations, and building artist relationships.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to respond to the evolving needs of artists and clients.
  • Data-Driven: Strong analytical skills to drive decision-making and performance measurement.
  • Public Speaking: Excellent communication and advocacy skills for engaging diverse audiences.

Job Responsibilities

  • Artist Community Development: Grow and manage Artiq’s artist network to drive sales and rentals. Source talent for workplace and hospitality projects. Expand global reach through regional contracts and emerging talent.
  • Artist Management Excellence: Maintain a clear artist/project database. Ensure best practices in logistics and licensing with Operations. Report KPIs with the Arts Director.
  • Contract & Compliance: Manage artist contracts and ensure all agreements, licensing, and logistics are compliant.
  • Partnerships & Programs: Build relationships with artworld partners. Deliver and enhance artist programmes like mentorships and residencies.
  • Leadership: Lead with a people-first, goal-driven mindset. Use data to guide strategy and support a collaborative team.
  • Engagement: Represent Artiq at events. Create experiences that showcase artists and set Artiq apart.
