About the Provision

This is a small, specialist educational setting for children and young people aged 9 to 19 who require a nurturing and supportive environment to thrive. Learners may be diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), present autistic traits, experience sensory processing difficulties, or face social and emotional challenges such as anxiety. With a maximum of 40 learners across ten academic years, the provision offers small group teaching (typically six students) and tailored learning experiences. Facilities include a sensory room, outdoor spaces, and a therapy garden to support individual needs. We are a values-led team focused on holistic development, inclusion, and creating a space where learners can rebuild confidence, feel understood, and re-engage with education.

The Role

We are looking for a QTS-qualified English teacher to join our team from October 2025 to cover maternity leave. This is a temporary position for the duration of the cover.

You will:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging and differentiated English lessons (KS3 and KS4)
  • Support learners in developing both academic and personal confidence
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including support staff and therapists
  • Maintain a nurturing classroom atmosphere that supports emotional and sensory needs
  • Participate in planning, assessment, and pastoral care

Working Hours

  • Breakfast Club: 08:15 – 08:30 (attendance optional)
  • School Day: 08:30 – 15:00

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Subject specialism in English
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEND, particularly autism and SEMH
  • Skilled in differentiated teaching and literacy support
  • A patient, flexible, and empathetic approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
