Based in London, the candidate will be available to work in a hybrid capacity, with both remote and in-office working.

Our client is looking for an experienced UX Design Leader to oversee and run an existing UX Design team.

The candidate must have a proven track record of delivering excellent designs in both B2B and B2C situations. They must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of teams, managing the overall quality and experience of the application. They should have knowledge of design systems, excellent UX/Figma/Sketch skills, and a passion to lead and promote modern design and user experience principles. We are looking for a collaborative team player to lead design, define standards, and raise the bar on overall quality.

The UX Design group is integrated with the Product team and is responsible for UX quality and for forming the future vision of the product.

Reporting into Product Management, you will lead the initiative to refresh and modernise the UX of their product.

Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with stakeholders to shape requirements through UX and design thinking exercises
  2. Utilise a design system in your design work
  3. Design financial software for a wide range of international clients
  4. Work with Development during handoff cycles and provide support
  5. Conduct UX Research and User Interviews
  6. Report UX Research findings to other senior members of the broader Product team
  7. Peer review across other UX Designers’ work to ensure consistency and the highest quality
  8. Produce prototypes and designs in Figma, creating documentation for development
  9. Effectively manage workloads within agreed timescales

Essential Skills:

Design Skills:

  1. Excellent understanding of common and modern UX patterns
  2. Understanding of working within a design system and design principles
  3. Designing for scale
  4. Keen eye for detail, with a passion for pixel-perfection
  5. Proficient in Figma, with good knowledge of shared libraries and styles
  6. Comfortable prototyping and iterating quickly with Product and Business leads
  7. Understanding of design needs within enterprise-level applications
  8. Familiarity with Design Thinking

Management Skills:

  1. Lead and manage a team of UX Designers
  2. Empower the team and mentor junior members
  3. Establish best practices, working processes, and instil design confidence within the group
  4. Champion and promote process change with Product and Development groups to accelerate prototyping and ideation

UX & Technical Skills:

  1. Good understanding of HTML/SCSS, JavaScript, responsive layouts
  2. Familiarity with Angular
  3. UX Research skills
  4. User Interview skills

Desirable Skills:

  1. Problem-solving and positivity in high-pressure situations
  2. Experience in FinTech would be advantageous
  3. Understanding of the financial services industry
  4. Basic familiarity with Typescript
  5. Familiarity with Affinity Designer or Adobe Illustrator

BA or equivalent experience in computer science, design, or a related field is a bonus, but not required.

Solid portfolio of work in Figma or Sketch is required.

Experience in Business Studies is a bonus, but not required.

At least 3 years’ experience of UI/UX in an agency or in-house, including apprenticeships.
