The Lead Data Analyst is a key role within the Engineering function, delivering prioritised components of the data strategy roadmap for Royal London. The role provides expert direction across the enterprise information framework; data acquisition, data transformation, data quality, metadata and master data management, data virtualisation, data services and consumption (Marketplace). The role enables the business to deliver its data driven outcomes, through delivering high quality, well governed and strategic data designs (on Cloud), that drives effective decision making through feature engineered data products. The role will translate the business requirements (or business problem statement) into a detailed design that is commercially viable, aligned to Data & Technology strategy, and can be delivered through a programme of change, either wholly or iteratively through transition states.

About the Role

  • Data Architecture & Data Flows: Responsible for contributing to the delivery of the detailed Data Architecture and designs for Projects & Programmes as well ongoing sustainability of existing data architectures. Data strategy and model defined and agreed for the programme taking into strategic alignment to Enterprise Data strategy, Business strategy, and Technology strategy as defined by Group CTO. Works closely with Architecture to ensure alignment to end-to-end domain architecture, docking into existing design authority/boards where appropriate. Builds strong business relationships with key stakeholders to understand their current challenges and be a champion for delivering solutions to solve complex data problems and democratise data. High level cost estimates and delivery complexity and effort for associated roadmaps of change.
  • Data Engineering Capability through Innovation: Monitoring industry developments and advising on their deployment in RLG. Provision of Data topical bulletins and discussion documents relating to internal and external articles, conference reports etc.

About You

  • Proven track record of supporting the Data Engineering engagement for complex, multi-vendor programmes and matrix led engagements.
  • Strong knowledge of Data technology and concepts, including Microsoft Azure stack & services, Dynamics/CRM, data pipelines, data security, data lineage (metadata), data cataloguing, Data glossary, user access controls, MDM/single view of customer, reference data, and insights: ML/AI & Analytics.
  • Identifies and shows insight into the needs of the customer; puts themselves into the customers' shoes. Takes full view of customer perspective. Drives improvement for customer through design.
  • Takes ownership and responsibility of problems/issues (regardless of involvement from the start or not).
  • Demonstrates data and technology risk management thought leadership with respect to challenging the key technologies and practices adopted to build data capabilities in the businesses and functions.
