The role involves owning and being accountable for delivering the design of ground station satellite tracking solutions and/or associated supporting sub-systems to achieve overall delivery of the mission system intent. Day-to-day, you’ll oversee a small team of engineers producing detailed specifications, overseeing the creation of high-quality designs documentation and other technical deliverables through the lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Derivation of RF System, Sub-System, and component level performance specifications through participating in requirements management, justification, and decomposition for the system.
  • Managing engineering change to systems, providing the relevant traceability back to the requirements, managing interfaces and trade-offs between systems, sub-systems and functions for the overall system.
  • Leading technical interactions with suppliers in conjunction with Supply Chain.
  • Contributing to technical interactions with the customer.
  • Leading the development, building, test and trialling of solutions through participating in Validation, Verification, Test and Acceptance activities.
  • Supporting Operational Engineering teams with in-service systems, troubleshooting technical faults and problem management.
  • Working with Project Management Teams to ensure projects are delivered in a timely and efficient way to meet internal and Customer needs.
  • Being the source of technical expertise in RF antenna systems and associated equipment, including radiation hazards.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience:

  • Strong and proven experience in an antenna design role, working with systems similar to those used in the high-power communications and broadcast industry.
  • Knowledge of RF system design.
  • Demonstrable System and solution architecture design and delivery experience.
  • Demonstrable systems engineering experience across the engineering lifecycle V-Model or equivalent from initial concepts to disposal.
  • Excellent understanding of satellite ground station infrastructure and ability to either manage the design or advise on the design of such systems.

Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in engineering or demonstrable experience in relevant roles.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
