What’s the role? Reporting to the Training Manager, the training officer role is to ensure that SMS achieves its installation commitments safely, by providing support and technical knowledge to the SMS employees and customers. The role will involve preparation of training materials and resources, maintaining up to date materials, delivering high quality training that meets the requirements of the business, maintaining and further developing a fit for purpose Academy, assessing operatives to ensure that everyone meets the high standard that is required, and working with the Training Manager accordingly. This role is offered on a 40 hour contract, 8am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Training Manager to ensure all Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations and company targets are achieved, promoting a high level of Health Safety and Environmental Management throughout the business and actively participate in safety and technical forums as required by the business.
  • Support the development of company e-learning training and amendments to procedures.
  • Deliver soft skills training to the highest standard.
  • Assist the Training Manager with external visits, audits and awarding bodies.
  • Assess candidates on all aspects of Smart metering and electrical installations.
  • Develop and improve training to meet the business requirements.
  • Responsible for delivering the competency assessment process.
  • Mentor field workforce and coach where necessary to deliver continual improvement.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have/be:

  • A Driving Licence (a current UK driving licence, or equivalent which enables driving in the UK)
  • A qualified Dual Fuel Meter Engineer (min of CMA1/CCN1, MET1, REGT1, MOCOPA Single Phase & Single off Multi Phase)
  • Electric MOCOPA Three Phase
  • Assessor Qualifications
  • Electrical Installations experience
  • Gas Installations experience
  • 18th Edition Qualified where applicable
  • Inspection and Testing where applicable
  • EV Charging experience
  • Solar PV experience
  • Renewables experience
