Job Purpose and Impact: Location: York Biotech Campus (UK) - York YO41 1LZ - Hybrid working is supported. We are also open to candidates working remotely in the UK or Europe with travel to York and customer locations (UK/Europe) when required. The Market Applications Specialist role, within our Energy Technologies R&D team, will bring their deep technical expertise in the Industrial lubricants field to support customer developments with existing products and new technology developments – working together with our sales organisation to deliver our ambitious growth targets.
The role holder will have excellent customer-facing skills and be adept at solving customer problems, particularly in the following application areas: Hydraulics, Gear, and Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants, ideally with a strong knowledge of industrial lubricant formulations. In addition, the role holder will have an in-depth knowledge of market trends and will be able to support the strategic direction of innovation in the Industrial Lubricants space, through close interaction with commercial colleagues.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide deep technical support to a wide customer-base across Europe, and occasionally in other regions, to drive business generation and retention.
- Drive the generation of value-adding customer specific projects to support technology adoption and define technical solutions which will deliver on customer needs.
- Be the 'Go-to' person for technical input on the Industrial Lubricants market across Cargill’s Energy Technologies business, with an ability to articulate existing technical needs and anticipate likely future directions.
- Be the key technical expert who oversees new product, data or formulation development projects within the Industrial Lubricants area.
- Available to travel 25% to 35%.
Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated success in new product development and data generation related to Industrial Lubricants.
- Strong experience of technically supporting an expert customer base in a deeply technical market.
- Ideally a working knowledge of Intellectual Property and patent strategy.
- Ideally a knowledge of Chemistry to support structure-performance evaluations.
- Strong level of business acumen.
