A top tier Quant Trading firm requires an engineer proficient in Windows software development and systems administration to join its Platform Engineering team. This is a hands-on, technical role on a cross-platform engineering team that’s responsible for core technology infrastructure in an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging working environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
Platform Engineering designs and maintains the firm's operating systems, authentication systems, databases, virtualization infrastructure, core network services, and messaging and endpoints on Windows and Linux in both our internal- and external-facing environments. This engineer will be tasked with the design, implementation, and integration of infrastructure systems, particularly—though not exclusively—on Windows-based systems.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Candidates should have a degree in computer science (or another technical discipline) or comparable work experience.
- Significant Windows software development and systems automation experience is required.
- Experience with C# or PowerShell is preferred; experience with Python and Rust is beneficial.
- An in-depth understanding of the Windows platform and related technologies (e.g., Active Directory and Failover Clustering) is required.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and familiarity with a variety of tracing tools (e.g., WireShark, ETW, and ProcMon).
- Experience with common Windows Server applications and management tools (e.g., Exchange, SQL, SCCM, Hyper-V, and ADFS) is also preferred.
- A working knowledge of network protocols, Linux, and information security concepts is required.
- Experience integrating systems across on-premises and cloud-based environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, and GCP) and working with containers on Windows and Linux is preferred.
- Outstanding communication skills are imperative, as the role will entail significant interaction with different departments in the firm.
