Are you passionate about delivering low-energy, high-performance buildings? A leading global architectural, engineering, and construction consultancy is seeking a Senior or Principal Building Physics Engineer to join its London team, supporting projects across Europe, the USA, and Asia. You will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of thermal and energy modelling strategies for commercial interiors and complex buildings. With a strong background in building physics, energy modelling, and sustainable design, you will collaborate with architects, engineers, and sustainability consultants to develop data-driven design solutions that support Net Zero ambitions and industry-leading performance.

What you will be doing:

  • Deliver advanced energy and thermal simulations using IES-VE, EnergyPlus, or DesignBuilder
  • Apply UK and international standards including Part L, TM54, TM52, TM59, ASHRAE 90.1, and LEED/BREEAM guidelines
  • Lead operational energy modelling, overheating analysis, thermal comfort, and passive design assessments
  • Conduct feasibility studies, Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), and renewable energy simulations
  • Support carbon footprinting and Net Zero carbon strategies
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing across the team
  • Present energy strategies and modelling outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

About You:

  • 8+ years' experience in energy modelling, building physics, and thermal analysis
  • Expertise with tools such as IES-VE, DesignBuilder, Rhino + Grasshopper (Ladybug/Honeybee); CFD experience is a bonus
  • Strong understanding of passive design, building envelope optimisation, and operational performance
  • Confident communicator with experience leading project workstreams and mentoring junior team members
  • Professional certifications such as LEED AP, WELL AP, CIBSE LCC or working towards Chartership are highly desirable
