The Role

We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established M&E contractor based in Liverpool for a Mechanical Project Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing mechanical works across a range of public sector construction projects including schools, universities, healthcare facilities, and hotels. The role will involve managing site teams, subcontractors, and ensuring that all work is delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced site manager with a mechanical background who is looking for long-term stability and local projects without the need to travel nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day mechanical operations on site, including labour and subcontractor coordination
  • Ensure work is delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings and timelines
  • Monitor site safety, quality and progress, and carry out regular inspections
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal project teams to ensure smooth communication
  • Oversee materials management, deliveries, and equipment on site
  • Provide progress reports to senior management and assist in resolving site issues
  • Support the commissioning and handover process

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Mechanical Site Manager role within the construction sector
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC and pipework
  • Background in delivering public sector projects such as schools or healthcare is preferred
  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification
  • Relevant mechanical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 or HNC/HND in Building Services
  • Excellent leadership, organisation and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Must be based within commutable distance to Liverpool and willing to travel locally
