As a Senior Performance Optimisation Engineer, you will be a key contributor in our pursuit of unlocking every ounce of performance from our Formula 1 car. You will be joining the Performance Optimisation Team, a group dedicated to solving the most challenging questions in vehicle performance using state-of-the-art simulation tools and our Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulator.

About the Role

Working collaboratively with Vehicle Dynamics, the Design Office, and other technical groups, you will be developing and running simulation studies that help guide future car concepts. You will be involved in making strategic decisions across mechanical performance, aerodynamics, tyre behaviour, brake performance, and suspension optimisation - all aligned with the direction from our Chief Engineers. This role demands technical excellence, clear communication, and a growth mindset. You will thrive in a high-performance culture that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead simulation and analysis work across key performance areas, including aero characteristics, tyre and suspension optimisation, and stiffness vs. weight trade-offs.
  • Conduct and interpret vehicle dynamics studies using our DIL simulator.
  • Investigate and research emerging performance areas relevant to car development.
  • Actively maintain cross-functional relationships with engineering, design, and operations teams.
  • Integrate innovative methodologies and tools based on latest industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Support race and test events as required, including occasional weekend work - this will be on an ad hoc basis.

What We’re Looking For

  • Existing experience in Vehicle Dynamics or Performance Optimisation, ideally within an F1 or high-level motorsport environment.
  • A relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret complex datasets and uncover performance trends.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Matlab and Python.
  • A methodical problem-solver with the creativity to approach technical challenges from multiple perspectives.
  • Highly organised and capable of managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and confidently to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative and proactive mindset, eager to innovate and contribute to a high-performing team.
