Marks Sattin is pleased to be partnering with a reputable Public Sector organisation in Central Birmingham to recruit an Interim Finance Business Partner for 9-12 months. This is a hybrid working role, with three days working in the office and two days working remotely.

The Interim Finance Business Partner will report to the Head of Finance and will be a dynamic and integral part of the finance team, supporting budget managers in monitoring expenditure, ensuring effective planning and forecasting processes are in place to keep track of budgets accurately. The Interim Finance Business Partner will also play a pivotal role in delivering commercial insight, analysis and reporting that drives informed and successful decision-making.

Key Responsibilities of the Interim Finance Business Partner includes:
  • Budget forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with budget managers and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting budget managers with financial processes, including purchasing activities.
  • Setting budgets for new financial years.
  • Month end preparation.
  • Completing year-end tasks, including accruals and audit preparation.
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors.
  • Enhancing reporting capabilities.
  • Driving continuous improvement of processes.
  • Assisting the Central Finance function as and when required.

To excel in this role, you will:

  • Be a Qualified Accountant - ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA.
  • Have Public Sector finance experience including knowledge of managing public money.
  • Have previous experience in a Finance Business Partnering role.
  • Have strong technical proficiency in Excel.
  • Have a passion for continuous improvement, specifically with regards to financial processes and systems.
  • Have experience influencing organisational performance by analysing and presenting financial information effectively to senior decision-makers.
  • Have experience supporting budget holders in monitoring and managing capital assets.
  • Be an excellent communicator with an ability to present complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Be available to start at short notice with the ability to commute to Central Birmingham 2-3 days per week.
