THE BUSINESS

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit an experienced HSE Manager who has experience operating within a high-volume manufacturing environment. Specifically, we are seeking candidates who have a strong pedigree within behavioural safety, working to create strategies to promote a proactive safety culture.

The role is based in County Durham and it is a permanent role from day one.

The organisation in question is hugely passionate regarding workplace safety and it forms the backdrop working across all elements of the business.

THE ROLE

  • Designing and implementing behavioural safety programs across departments
  • Working to drive health & safety programmes, policies and initiatives
  • Able to drive continuous improvement programmes
  • Recording and driving key performance indicators
  • Taking ownership of HSE budgets
  • Ensuring the business meets statutory obligations within HSE activities
  • Ensuring accidents are documented, investigated, with recommended improvements
  • Ensuring safety inspections and safety audits are performed
  • Delivering the timely completion of risk assessments for all equipment and operations completed
  • Providing support, advice, training and coaching to departmental managers and teams
  • Ability to manage an HSE Advisor – mentor and develop

THE PERSON

  • Able to impact hearts and minds regarding safety culture
  • Experienced working to ensure a proactive safety culture, rather than reactive
  • Able to use metrics and key performance indicators to continually develop and improve workplace safety
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills – Ability to communicate with people across all levels
  • You will hold the belief that H&S can’t be led from behind a desk
  • Good understanding of environmental safety standards
  • NEBOSH Qualified as a minimum
  • You will be a natural champion of H&S
