What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide expert system and design knowledge to support the definition of detailed engineering task and activity backlogs
  • Facilitate, manage and run scrums/sprints
  • Apply your knowledge of agile working for efficient management and delivery support to the engineering schedule of work
  • Identify, define and prioritise work packages aligning to the schedules
  • Support short, medium and long term programme planning via backlog development
  • Ensuring a sound theoretical and practical approach to engineering activities is upheld
  • Daily progress tracking, reporting and producing performance metrics
  • Contribute to project/initiative strategy and methodology
  • There will be opportunity to line manage, coach and mentor other engineers

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Good understanding of C&I/Electrical systems design and demonstrable career experience with these systems
  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/ Physics/ Maths/ Science)
  • Experience in engineering systems design and test
  • Knowledge of working in an agile methodology and appropriate tool sets such as Jira / Confluence

Desirable:

  • Awareness of Defence Standards and Industry standards
  • Project management experience
  • Be a chartered engineer or working towards this level

The Sub Systems Engineering Team:

You will be working in a sub systems engineering team, helping us to design, develop, integrate, manage and support control systems for in-service/future submarines. Working within the AVC team on high integrity control systems that control the submarine platform manoeuvrability elements. This role will involve utilising your engineering knowledge to define detailed IV&V and C&I engineering activities and you will be reporting directly to the engineering manager on the delivery of these tasks. As we move towards a model-based approach to Engineering, our Systems Engineers will continue to develop a wide-range of skills and experience across all areas and disciplines and we are able to offer real opportunities for personal and team development.
