A bit about what you will do... Assistant Chief Engineers in our stylish hotel take a proactive, hands-on approach, assisting in overseeing all aspects of maintenance operations to ensure the highest standards are maintained, to create a welcoming and safe environment that consistently exceeds guests expectations.
- Lead and manage the maintenance team, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Coordinate the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance services.
- Manage the maintenance budget, including tracking expenses, forecasting future needs, and optimising resource allocation.
- Oversee hotel renovations and other projects, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely completion within budget.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in maintenance operations.
- Collaborate with other departments to support the overall operation of the hotel and address maintenance-related issues.
- Maintain and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste and supporting green initiatives.
- Address guest concerns promptly, attentively and efficiently.
- Coach, train, and support the team to provide consistently high standards while continually seeking improvement.
More about you... Strong leadership skills with proven experience in managing a team. Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs. Full understanding of financial aspects, budgeting and profit and loss. Proven experience in managing, coaching, challenging and developing teams. Approachable and positive manner with a can do attitude. Ability to use initiative in challenging situations and under pressure. A smart and professional appearance. Proven track record in a similar position within a 4-star hotel. Recognised electrical or engineering qualification and specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields. Pool plant operator qualification. Excellent understanding of Health and Safety regulations and best practices. Previous experience using maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications. High standard of English, both written and spoken.
