Kilolab Process Development & Scale-Up Manager
We are establishing a cutting-edge Kilo Lab facility and seek an experienced Process Development & Scale-Up Manager to lead this initiative. If you are a skilled chemist or chemical engineer passionate about process optimization, scale-up, and innovation, this is your opportunity to make a significant impact.
This leadership role involves scaling up robust, cost-efficient, and safe chemical processes from laboratory to kilo lab scale (up to 60 liters). You will drive process development, technology transfer, and continuous improvement, ensuring smooth transitions from synthetic labs to production.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor all development processes within the laboratory.
- Coordinate process development planning and scheduling with other departments and project managers.
- Hands-on scale-up of processes from laboratory to kilo lab scale (up to 60 liters).
- Coordinate technology transfer processes from synthetic labs to kilo lab or production site.
- Oversee EHS standards within the kilo lab, maintaining safety, order, and cleanliness.
- Conduct safety risk assessments for scale-up processes and evaluate potential impacts.
- Document work in ELNs, batch records, reports, and transfer protocols.
- Organize procurement of chemical requirements for projects.
- Review and recommend new equipment or technology for continuous improvement.
- Recruit and develop team members.
- Foster a supportive culture among R&D and process development teams.
- Qualifications: MSc or PhD in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Extensive experience in chemical process development and scale-up, especially in pharmaceutical, chemical, or CDMO industries.
- Leadership experience supporting employees in process development.
- Proficiency in designing, developing, and optimizing chemistry routes for scale-up.
- Experience handling hazardous chemicals on scale, including inert transfer of flammable solvents and pyrophoric reagents.
- Mastery of isolation/purification techniques such as crystallization, distillation, and chromatography.
- Experience transferring processes to production and supporting ongoing operations.
- Knowledge of process development planning, equipment maintenance, safety regulations, and risk assessments.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
- Leadership qualities to motivate teams and ensure safety and compliance.
- Experience with SAP and QMS systems.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Own transportation to site is required.
