As a founding member of the new Product engineering group, based in Newport whilst reporting to the EFI Business Unit, you will support the introduction of wire bondable silicon chip resistors (IGBR).

The IGBR Product Engineer will:

  • Be the interface between the manufacturing facility and the product line.
  • Be the onsite expert in the resistor technology providing engineering support required to investigate yield and defect issues.
  • Provide support from qualification of the technology into high volume manufacturing.
  • Act as the point of contact to analyze and resolve customer product or quality issues.
  • Recommend improvements, modifications, and possible design changes.
  • Coordinate with the Fab for capacity and throughput of the IGBR product.

Location: The position is located in Newport, Wales. The role requires a mix of primarily office based, but will require working in a clean room to some degree.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Drive IGBR product introductions/development in Newport through to customer qualification.
  • Work as a team with design, product, R&D and process integration engineers to debug designs, improve yields and develop new technologies.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating the principles, encouraging participation from employees, and removing barriers to achieve Vishay’s objectives.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor Eng Electrical/Electronic engineering.
  • Experience interacting with customers would be a plus.

Desired Skills:

  • 3 years plus wafer fab experience.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor devices and industrial semiconductor technology.
  • Hands on experience in wafer fab process module development.
  • Familiar with all modern manufacturing concepts such as JIT, Kaizen, Zero Defects, SPC, TQM and TPM.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in written form through technical presentations and technical reports.
  • Teamwork approach.
  • Highly motivated, results orientated, customer service orientated, strong leadership and communication skills.
