We are supporting our client by recruiting for a highly motivated Certification Engineer to support a range of projects within our expanding aerospace division. This is a full time, permanent position that can offer a competitive salary of up to £40,000 per annum plus excellent company benefits including 25 days holiday + bank holidays, life assurance, healthcare scheme, pension, employee assistance programme, retail discounts and 37.5 hours per week with an early finish on a Friday.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for certification activities across multiple projects, engaging directly with regulatory authorities, external (A)DOAs, airframe manufacturers, and MROs. You will ensure timely delivery of acceptable certification documents and technical publications while maintaining compliance with all airworthiness and safety standards.
Certification Engineer main duties:- Lead the substantiation and delivery of certification activities across multiple seating projects in collaboration with the UK CAA, (A)DOA companies, airframe manufacturers, and/or MROs.
- Interpret and apply certification requirements to specific projects to achieve compliance efficiently and with minimal risk.
- Proactively engage and challenge certification authorities (UK CAA) to agree on efficient certification paths where appropriate.
- Produce high-quality, compliant documentation including static, dynamic, flammability, and environmental certification plans and reports.
- Generate and review technical publications including CMMs, SBs, TRs, and SILs to industry standards.
- Monitor certification progress against project plans, ensuring documentation is available according to project milestone schedules.
- Troubleshoot and resolve certification issues promptly, developing backup plans to safeguard project schedules.
- Foster strong internal and external relationships with authorities, Aerospace manufacturers, (A)DOAs, suppliers, and operators.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to integrate certification requirements into the design and production processes.
- Influence design intent to minimise certification risks.
- Ensure all design, repair activities, and delivered products meet certification and continued airworthiness requirements without compromise to safety.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience in writing and reviewing test plans, reports, and qualification documents.
- Proficient in computer systems and document management tools.
- Experience in performing compliance verification tasks in relation to certification.
- Authoring of aerospace modification paperwork.
- Willingness to travel to support testing and witness activities as needed.
- Prior experience in aerospace qualification/certification roles.
- Experience engaging with aerospace regulatory authorities and airframe manufacturers.
- Knowledge and application of structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Familiarity with the certification processes for Aerospace cabin equipment, particularly seating systems.
- Experience and understanding of regulatory guidance material.
- Previous experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for a Part 21 (A)DOA.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
