Are you passionate about nutrition, sustainable food systems, and combating misinformation? Foodfacts.org , the trusted platform run by the Freedom Food Alliance (FFA), is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Fact-Checker to join our mission-driven team. This is your chance to contribute to a healthier, more informed world while gaining valuable experience in the fast-evolving fields of nutrition and food systems.

What You’ll Do:

  • Write 2–4 fact-checks per month to address misinformation about food, diets, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts, advocates, and communicators.
  • Research and analyze complex topics to produce fact-checks that are objective, evidence-based, and free of bias.
  • Support Foodfacts.org’s mission of promoting planet-friendly, people-focused food systems .
  • Contribute to public education by ensuring accurate, accessible information reaches diverse audiences.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A BSc, MSc, or PhD qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics, Environmentalism, Ecosystems, or Ethics (or a closely related field).
  • A strong interest in misinformation and disinformation , especially in food, health, and environmental narratives.
  • Passion for advancing sustainable food systems that benefit both people and the planet.
  • Familiarity with media literacy and awareness of common misinformation tactics is a plus.
  • Experience with scientific writing or reviewing academic literature is preferred.
  • Excellent research and writing skills, with the ability to communicate nuanced topics without bias or polarizing language.
  • A collaborative mindset, ready to work with an interdisciplinary team to make an impact.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 5–10 hours per week , depending on the complexity of the fact-checks and ongoing projects. Time commitment is flexible based on your availability.
