An international law firm is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer to join its Business Acceptance team in London. This is a confidential search for a high-performing professional with a strong background in compliance and previous experience in a law firm environment – a non-negotiable requirement.
You’ll play a pivotal role in both day-to-day compliance operations and the supervision of a pod of Compliance Officers, offering guidance and strategic support. You will act as a senior point of contact for complex queries involving AML, conflict resolution, and regulatory compliance across the firm's global offices.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee daily workflows around client onboarding and matter opening
- Act as a first point of escalation for AML, conflicts, and sanctions issues
- Supervise and mentor a small team of Compliance Officers, ensuring consistent and efficient delivery
- Support the Head of Business Acceptance with training, policy drafting, and systems upgrades (Intapp Open)
- Handle complex conflict checks, CDD, and information barriers
- Collaborate on lateral hire searches and provide occasional out-of-hours support on urgent matters
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Business Acceptance or Compliance role within a law firm
- Strong knowledge of AML and conflicts rules across multiple jurisdictions
- Demonstrated experience using systems such as Intapp Open and Walls
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and time management skills
- Prior people management or mentoring experience highly beneficial
- Familiarity with systems like Orbis and Accuity
