Assembly was formed by converging best-in-class teams at Edelman to lead integrated communications on behalf of Microsoft. Assembly UK is a tightly integrated storytelling machine of over 40 full time employees working across the entire Microsoft business spanning Corporate, Commercial and Consumer (Microsoft, Xbox, Surface, LinkedIn) Communications as well as Social and B2B Marketing.

This is a rare and exciting role working for one of the most innovative and trusted brands in the world, helping to shape and maintain their global leadership on AI. We are looking for a confident and proactive Senior Account Executive to join the Microsoft UK Communications team, where you’ll be delivering corporate and B2B communications, supporting in the execution of the UK press office, and telling compelling, agenda-setting stories.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with technology brands and/or comparable global companies – and, critically, be excited by the idea of working flexibly across technology PR, influencers, policy and issues management. You’ll have good understanding of the media (news, business, technology), and you’ll have an eye for a good story. Experience of working with creators and understanding how news travels on social platforms would be a benefit. You will be motivated by the breadth and complexity of the subject matter – from the latest AI innovation to the future of healthcare – and feel energised by working in a best-in-class, fast-paced comms team.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable leaning into the delivery of multi-channel, integrated corporate and technology product communications. Each week you’ll need to be able to discuss the latest tech regulation, respond to issues and crises, but also generate creative campaign ideas for a new product launch, and distil complex technology into engaging B2B content.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Press Office Management: Oversee daily management of the Microsoft UK press office, ensuring timely and effective engagement with media outlets in response to breaking issues.
  • Media & Creator Relations: Build and maintain relationships with key media contacts, pitching stories, and securing coverage.
  • Review Programmes: Support and manage review programmes, coordinating with media and ensuring timely delivery and collection of review units.
  • Copywriting: Draft long and short-form content, including op-eds, blogs, press releases, etc.
  • Client Communication: Act as a point of contact for clients, providing updates, addressing queries, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular reports on programme delivery, media coverage, and the landscape Microsoft is operating in.
  • AI-powered Comms: Consistently trial and experiment with AI tools (e.g. Microsoft 365 Copilot) to augment our communications workflow and test new means of creativity and productivity.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent writing skills, confident verbal communications skills and strong attention to detail.
  • An understanding of what makes a good story and how to craft them: telling a compelling story and pitching are crucial parts of the role.
  • Ability and confidence in developing and brainstorming ideas as part of the broader team.
  • A proactive attitude in handling media and influencer relations, with a desire to establish strong relationships.
  • The ability to provide social and traditional media analysis to senior stakeholders in the UK and globally.
  • Knowledge and prior experience of working with influencers/content creators is a plus.
  • Desire to work as part of a large, integrated team in a busy, fast-paced and highly motivated working environment.
  • Exceptional time management, organisational and administration skills – for organising weekly client calls, drafting call agendas, managing the work in progress (WIP) report, developing work back plans, managing your time, helping to keep teams and projects on track, tracking and recording coverage and content.
  • A proactive attitude and desire to learn – always seeking to bring fresh thinking, ideas, and intelligence to the wider team.

We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
