Our client, a leading Global Investment Management firm, is seeking a Legal Counsel to be responsible for covering the firm’s trading and investment activity supporting the Investment Management Fixed Income team. This role will focus on high yield debt funds, and experience in High Yield issuance or DCM will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Primarily focus on the legal, regulatory, and policy needs of the Investment Management Fixed Income Team.
- Work with the active and index Fixed Income portfolio managers and provide legal services related to investing in, and trading of, fixed income securities and investments.
- Work closely with members of the Global Trading and Markets Legal Team on global legal matters.
- Assist with new business initiatives for the Fixed Income Group, including product launches.
- Ensure that the Fixed Income Group complies with relevant laws and regulations.
- Evaluate legislative and regulatory developments related to portfolio management in the fixed income space.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified lawyer with experience of fixed income securities and regulations and ideally experienced in high yield debt trading and issuing or DCM.
- Experience providing legal services related to portfolio management, investments, and debt offerings.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of legal issues surrounding the trading of fixed income instruments and broader understanding of a variety of asset types.
- Experience on regulation, particularly in the context of UCITS products in Ireland and the UK, and EU / UK MiFID requirements.
- Familiarity with AIFs and the EU / UK Securitisation frameworks is an advantage.
- A demonstrated ability to work on legal issues and to manage a varied and changing caseload.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder relationship management, negotiation and drafting skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently on demanding legal issues and to tight deadlines.
