We’re seeking an experienced Application Development Manager to lead and drive the execution of data-focused initiatives within the Foundational Frameworks platform. This role sits within the Foundational Data Group at the intersection of engineering, product, and operations. Foundational Data Group ensures high-quality, timely delivery of data that powers decision-making and analytics across BNY. You will lead a team of data engineers, oversee technical execution, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that our data solutions and pipelines are scalable, re-usable, reliable, and aligned with organisational objectives.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Drive best practices in software engineering, data engineering, and agile project delivery.
  • Support career growth by providing coaching, feedback, and technical guidance.
  • Ensure the team follows best practices in building scalable, re-usable, efficient, and secure data products.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of data workflow, data warehouses, and real-time data processing solutions.
  • Guide architectural decisions to improve system reliability, re-usability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Advocate for automation, CI/CD, and other best practices in data engineering.
  • Act as a bridge between engineering, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment on data needs.
  • Communicate technical concepts and project updates effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Influence data strategy and contribute to data governance, security, and compliance efforts.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of data products, ensuring alignment with the priority roadmap.
  • Collaborate with product managers and business leaders to define scope, requirements, and timelines.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations, proactively addressing challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes, optimising for speed, quality, and efficiency.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline; Advanced degree or financial industry certification preferred.
  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and technology-led product development with related supervisory, management, and administrative experience.
  • Most recent experience should be in leading Data Engineering teams.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in technology applications of a large-scale global financial organisation like BNY.
  • Proven experience managing and delivering data projects, including pipeline development and data warehousing, specifically demonstrating quantifiable client impact.
  • Experience delivering products that can operate under tight data delivery SLAs and handle high volumes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of data engineering concepts like SQL, data modelling, ETL.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
