About the position

We're looking for a Junior Software Engineer with a passion for developing SCADA systems which deliver value. This is a unique opportunity for a Software Engineer at the start of their career, who is ready to develop and manage a SCADA system from start to finish. You’ll be responsible for taking our existing software platform and transforming it into a fully-fledged SCADA system, tailored to meet the needs of our growing client base. Within this role, you’ll have the chance to develop a system for some of the most exciting clients in the industry, taking full ownership of the SCADA system, giving you full responsibility and the opportunity to make a significant impact.

It’s imperative that this person is someone who will be comfortable in a customer facing role; working and collaborating with clients from initial enquiry and sales through to commissioning. A full UK Driving Licence with the ability to travel is a must, with some stays away from home. We anticipate that the role will be split between time working at customer sites across the UK and Europe (60% of the time) and at our office in Leeds (40% of the time).

Key deliverables:

  • Develop and deliver our software system, using Siemens TIA Portal and SIMATIC technologies including WinCC Unified.
  • Ensure the system delivers high-value solutions to our customers, with an emphasis on efficiency and innovation.
  • Own the full lifecycle of PLC, HMI and SCADA development from initial concept to deployment.
  • Collaborate with our industry leading clients to implement and enhance the system across our growing client base.
  • Assist with on-site customer demonstrations and trials.
  • Project pre-order research and estimating and meetings with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for all above aspects of a project on an individual basis or taking responsibility for just some aspects whilst working together on a team project.

Skills, experience, and qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience of PLC Programming is essential.
  • Experience with PLC, HMI and SCADA systems, Siemens TIA Portal essential.
  • An engineer with experience in building and deploying systems, looking to take the next step in their career.
  • Someone who thrives in a hands-on, development-focused role with the opportunity for growth.
  • Ideally degree qualified or working towards degree qualifications or HNC in electrical engineering or a completed apprenticeship in Engineering.
  • A self-starter who is eager to add value to customers and contribute to the growth of the business.
  • Someone who is comfortable and confident in a customer facing role; working and collaborating with clients from initial enquiry and sales through to commissioning.
  • A full UK Driving Licence with the ability to travel, with some stays away from home.
