The reporting team drives SmartestEnergy Limited's monthly management reporting for SEL UK and quarterly group reporting to our parent company, Marubeni Corporation, and annual statutory reporting and external audit. The reporting team's key objective is to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the Company's financial reporting process and effectiveness of related internal controls, implementing process automations where possible using our new ERP system, Workday.
The Group reporting accountant is a new role that will lead the monthly consolidation process of 4 entities, reporting of group results to shareholders and SEL management, and ownership of the consolidation process for group accounts for the year-end audit. The role will be required to partner with key stakeholders, in particular our subsidiary finance teams and Group tax. You will also lead on the implementation and ownership of a minimum controls standard framework and support ongoing process and internal control improvements as required across the financial reporting team.
What skills/experience do I need to be successful?
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience, or if non-qualified then sufficient relevant on-the-job experience and the intent to complete your professional qualification ASAP;
- Previous ownership of tasks within the month-end close process, with specific exposure to group reporting and consolidation essential;
- Experience in preparing consolidated management and statutory accounts;
- Financial accounting and reporting, ideally within IFRS framework;
- Expertise in analysing and reporting key data trends in easy-to-understand visuals.
