An exciting leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Structural Design Lead to oversee a dynamic and expanding structures team. This role is ideally suited to a senior professional looking to lead both the technical and commercial aspects of project delivery within a fast-growing division. The successful candidate will contribute to a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects, while playing a key role in shaping the team\’s strategic direction, maintaining high technical standards, and supporting the firm’s continued growth.
Responsibilities:
* Oversee the operational and commercial performance of the structures team, reporting to senior management.
* Lead and mentor a group of structural engineers and technicians, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
* Ensure design deliverables consistently meet rigorous quality standards.
* Coordinate effectively with project teams, clients, stakeholders, and external consultants to deliver integrated solutions.
* Manage team resources, delegate tasks, and monitor project budgets to ensure successful outcomes.
* Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support multi-disciplinary project delivery.
* Support recruitment efforts as the team expands.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships.
* Contribute to business development activities, including the preparation of tenders and bids.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree (Level 8 or higher) in engineering or a related discipline.
* Chartered Engineer status, or recognised equivalent accreditation.
* A minimum of 15 years’ experience in structural engineering, with a proven track record of technical excellence.
* Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to manage budgets.
* Proven ability to deliver projects under pressure and meet client deadlines.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong leadership qualities with experience in managing and developing teams.
* Advanced professional and technical knowledge in structural engineering.
