The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers is one of the UKs largest trade unions. A vacancy exists for a Legal Advisor in the Legal Services Department based at the Unions Head Office in Salford Quays.

The principal duties are:

  • To ensure the smooth running of the Unions Injury Assist online personal injury claim service and that all members enquiries are dealt with in line with the service agreement
  • To confirm that the Unions eligibility requirements in respect of its personal injury service is met in each case
  • To ensure that members enquiries are allocated to the appropriate panel solicitor and dealt with in line with the Unions Legal Services Agreement (LSA)

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Formal legal training, typically in the form of a Legal Executive qualification or other relevant qualification or equivalent practical legal experience
  • Knowledge of relevant law, precedent and procedure in relation to personal injury, CICA and MIB claims
  • Knowledge of state benefits relating to accidents and diseases
  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills
  • IT literacy including knowledge of Adobe, Word, Outlook and databases
  • The ability to communicate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
