Overview

Calling all experienced Travel Professionals! Are you a Travel Consultant based in Cambridge or surrounding areas? Do you have a passion for travel? Our client, a well-known independent agency, seeks a Travel Consultant for their branch near Huntingdon to manage telephone, e-mail, internet and face-to-face enquiries whilst pro-actively building rapport and turning enquiries into bookings. This is a fantastic move for a dynamic Travel Consultant to join a thriving company!

Responsibilities

  • Deal with customers face to face daily, planning and selling tailor-made holidays to worldwide destinations and other travel services to suit each client’s requirements.
  • Work in a busy team, meet and exceed targets and provide excellent customer service to gain recommendations and build a local client base.
  • Take enquiries from customers face to face and over the phone; respond promptly by phone, email or in person.
  • Quote holidays for a wide variety of destinations and convert enquiries to bookings to reach targets and earn commission.
  • Handle all customer service issues quickly and effectively, keeping the manager updated and escalating where appropriate.
  • Deal with dynamic packaging/tailor-made itineraries as well as package holidays to find the right holiday for the customer.
  • Maintain up-to-date product and brand knowledge, with in-depth knowledge of company brochures and destinations.

Experience required

  • You must have at least 1-2 years of recent retail travel experience and strong customer service skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience working as a travel agent in a previous role or another travel company.
  • A passion for travel and the travel industry.
  • Ability to work to sales and profit targets.

The package

  • Competitive pay (dependent on age and experience) plus excellent incentive and commission scheme.
  • A friendly environment that values staff, rewards long service, and supports flexible, fun and sociable working conditions.
  • Ability to work at least 3 days a week, up to 5 days; retail hours Monday – Saturday 9am – 5pm; Sundays on a rota if required. Guaranteed at least one full weekend off per month. No hybrid working.
  • Discounts on travel and holidays; 29 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays, increasing with length of service.
  • Overseas educational travel opportunities; standard Life Pension – 3% Employer Contribution, 5% Employee.
