The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a dynamic Senior Building Control Surveyor! If you are ready to take charge of managing a vibrant area within the Borough, this role is for you. You will be the go-to person, stepping in for the Principal Building Control Surveyor or Head of Building Control when they are away. Your days will be filled with processing and scrutinising Building Regulation applications, inspecting building works, and offering invaluable building control advice. You will also play a crucial role in assisting the Local Authority with Dangerous Structures, including handling emergencies outside of regular hours. Plus, you will tackle complex and high-risk buildings, ensuring safety and compliance at every turn.

About You
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
- An understanding of the Council's Equal Opportunity policy in relation to employment, and an awareness of the implications of that policy for this job.
- A detailed working knowledge of current Building Control practice procedures and legislation.
- A detailed working knowledge of more complex construction techniques.
- Ability to organise workload, to establish priorities for action, and to delegate duties in order to carry out the necessary work within statutory deadlines.
- Ability to prepare accurate and detailed reports on site inspections.
- Ability to negotiate with applicants and developers in order to achieve compliance with statutory requirements.
- Ability to present information, verbally and in writing on Building Regulations applications, and other matters in a manner which clearly demonstrates a thorough structured, logical, and orderly approach.
