The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and committed Campus Safeguarding Lead to join our Student Services team and play a vital role in protecting and supporting our students across the college. Working closely with the Director of Safeguarding and Student Services and the Senior Safeguarding Lead, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding and child protection across the college. This is a pivotal leadership role where your expertise will guide early intervention efforts, drive best practices, and ensure compliance with key safeguarding policies including online safety and Prevent Duty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead safeguarding and child protection processes on campus.
  • Provide professional advice and support to staff on safeguarding concerns.
  • Liaise with the Local Authority and a wide range of external agencies.
  • Act as Designated Teacher for looked-after children.
  • Support vulnerable students through targeted early intervention strategies.
  • Collaborate with curriculum teams to identify and support students at risk.
  • Manage safeguarding staff and maintain accurate records using appropriate databases.

You:

We are seeking someone who's confident, compassionate, and proactive - a strong communicator who can lead with empathy and act decisively. You will need:

  • A solid background in safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Experience in managing safeguarding concerns and using case management systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience leading teams and working collaboratively across departments.
  • DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) training or willingness to undertake it via the Local Authority.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Hold a level 4 qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Literacy and Numeracy qualification at Level 2 (GCSE A-C or equivalent).
  • To have or be willing to attend and hold a WSCB Advanced Safeguarding Certificate.
  • Evidence of strong CPD.
