We are looking for an In-house Journalist to join our marketing team in our Hull office. Acting as the ‘voice’ of Hudgells, the in-house journalist will raise awareness of our brand by developing news stories, telling the stories of the clients we strive to help as part of our ethos of ‘righting Wrongs’. Your writing will be pivotal in driving organic traffic, enhancing our online presence, and telling our client stories.

In this role, every day will be a unique and exciting challenge that will include:

  • Manage external communications efforts, including PR and media relations, to secure press coverage, manage media relationships, and enhance Hudgells' reputation.
  • Work closely with our legal team to develop compelling content, including client stories, podcasts, articles, advice pieces, whitepapers, and media commentaries.
  • Lead the coordination and execution of media outreach and PR campaigns in collaboration with PR agencies.
  • Conduct industry and key topic research, including Freedom of Information requests, review of industry news, and utilise that information to create engaging content and react to breaking news.
  • Create a range of video and audio output across appropriate mediums.

In the role you will need (ESSENTIALS):

  • Proven experience in journalism and copywriting.
  • Comfortable interviewing, taking pictures, filming, and editing.
  • To be 100% proficient with spelling/grammar.
  • Working knowledge of SEO and how it applies to content marketing.
  • Extremely high attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

It is desired that you have:

  • Basic knowledge of HTML.
  • Experience in WordPress.
  • Good planning, organisation, and implementation skills.
  • Creative flair with an understanding and ability to create engaging multimedia content.

You will work with our Head of Marketing Department, Helen Saunders, along with the rest of the small and friendly team in our in-house marketing department.
