Abingdon School is looking for a Deputy Manager to join our dynamic team and help deliver exceptional experiences at our state-of-the-art sports facilities. Location: Tilsley Park, OX14 1PU Salary: £30,099 – £31,253 per annum Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Close Date: Friday 10 January 2025 (midday) About Us: Abingdon School is a prestigious independent school, educating approximately 1000 students aged 11-18. Located in 35 acres of beautiful grounds at the heart of Abingdon, just south of Oxford, we offer an inspiring environment for both academic and extracurricular excellence. Tilsley Park is an outdoor facility that offers excellent sports pitches and an athletics track. Currently, it also offers an indoor spin studio, bar and meeting room. Deputy Manager – The Role: We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Deputy Manager to support our Commercial Director in the day to day running of the facility. The Deputy Manager’s key objective is to ensure that Tilsley Park operates effectively and efficiently in providing high quality sports and leisure facilities for Abingdon School and the wider community. The Deputy Manager will work as part of a team on a shift pattern and therefore some evening and weekend work will be necessary. Deputy Manager – Key Responsibilities: – To work closely with the management team in all operational matters – To be responsible for staff rotas and ensure staffing levels meet the business requirements and operate within budget – To operate the facility booking system – To develop events and activities through working closely with the public and local businesses. – To ensure that all financial controls, cashing up and banking procedures are followed – To ensure that health and safety legislation and procedures are followed at all times – To support the marketing plans for the facility and take a lead in projects – Setting up of equipment and venues to meet the requirements of the service Deputy Manager – You: – Previous experience of working in a similar environment is essential – Qualified to degree level or equivalent work experience – Relevant experience in either customer service or facility management – Previous experience working within the sport and leisure industry – Proven ability to achieve results – Excellent people skills – customer service, colleagues, stakeholders – Experience of implementing and maintaining high operational standards – Ability to effectively lead a team and collectively deliver an excellent service – Ability to work under pressure – Flexible in supporting operational requirements – Ability to demonstrate ASE’s values – Competent in the use of Information Technology – Willingness to attend training courses, as required – Full driving licence in order to use Golf Buggy – Displays commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion – Displays commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people – Values and respects the views and needs of children and young people Deputy Manager – Benefits: – Full time staff benefit from 25 days paid annual leave (plus eight statutory bank holidays) – Pension scheme – Private healthcare insurance – Free use of leisure facilities with discounted exercise classes – Christmas closure days – Discounted school fees (eligibility criteria apply) – Free parking and bike storage for staff is available on site on a first come first served basis We recognise the value of a diverse and inclusive workplace and are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and job applicants.
