FinOps Consultant

Job Title: FinOps Consultant (AWS & FinOps tooling)

Location: London or Remote (with occasional travel to London)

Contract: Initial 3-months (Outside IR35)

Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced FinOps Consultant with deep expertise in AWS cost optimization, cloud financial operations, and familiarity with FinOps tooling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze, monitor, and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure spend.
• Leverage FinOps tooling (including cloud cost intelligence platforms) to provide detailed insights into cloud costs, usage patterns, and financial forecasting.
• Develop and implement cost optimization strategies, collaborating closely with engineering and finance teams.
• Provide guidance on AWS commercial models, including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Spot Instances.
• Identify cost drivers, risks, and opportunities, presenting actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate on building financial governance frameworks and ensure adherence to cloud financial management best practices.
• Stay updated with AWS pricing structures, new cloud technologies, and industry standards to continuously enhance optimization efforts.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Proven experience as a FinOps consultant or Cloud Cost Optimization specialist.
• Extensive AWS knowledge, including practical experience with cost optimization tools and methodologies.
• Experience using FinOps tools
• Understanding of cloud-native architecture and best practices for cost-efficient deployments.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and technical requirements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively across finance, engineering, and management teams.

Desirable:

• AWS Certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, or similar).
• Previous experience or familiarity with payments technology or financial services sectors.
