We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team delivering a large education new build project in Dalkeith.

Location: Dalkeith

Hours: 40 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired.

What will you be responsible for?

  • As Quantity Surveyor, you will initially be working on a large new build high school and community campus in Dalkeith, delivering a modern facility valued at £45M.
  • Working closely with the managing surveyor, you will take a key role in managing the cost and cashflow through effective commercial management of sub-contractors and client representatives under the contract conditions.
  • Your day to day will include:
  • Organising the division of projects into component work packages for procurement.
  • Assessing returns from sub-contractors and awarding work packages.
  • Negotiating with sub-contractor supply chain to achieve best value.
  • Managing applications for payment from sub-contractors.
  • Preparation of applications for payment to clients.
  • Monitoring and measuring actual expenditure against budgeted project expenditure in the form of CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation Reports).
  • Preparation of final accounts.

  • Experience working within the main contractor environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NEC / JCT Contracts.
  • Confidence working on large scale commercial construction projects.
  • Comfort in dealing with client representatives, sub-contractors and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications and Accreditations:

  • Degree in quantity surveying.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
