A national charity is seeking a Housing Management Worker to support tenants, manage properties, and ensure safe, compliant housing across Sunderland.

THE ROLE

  • You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of properties and supporting tenants to maintain their tenancies.
  • Provide intensive housing management support to tenants, including help with housing benefits and signposting to additional services.
  • Conduct initial and regular assessments of tenants’ needs and risks.
  • Ensure correct tenancy agreements are issued and clearly understood by tenants.
  • Liaise with the Asset Management team to maintain property standards and report repairs.
  • Order furniture and household goods for properties.
  • Maximise rent collection and manage arrears in line with policy.
  • Foster positive relationships with landlords, neighbours, and the local community.

THE CANDIDATE

  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar housing management role, with strong knowledge of tenancy support and property management.
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals and managing housing tenancies.
  • Knowledge of tenancy law, housing benefits, and arrears management.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and manage safeguarding concerns.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies.

THE CONTRACT

  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm (40 hours per week, 35 paid, 5 hours lunch unpaid).
  • Travel: Frequent travel across Sunderland.
  • Working pattern: Hybrid – Mandatory office day on Wednesdays in Derby; remaining days spent in the community.
  • Duration: 3-month contract.
  • Pay rate: £17.21 per hour (LTD) / £14.67 per hour (PAYE, inc. holiday).
