OpenEdge DBA - Fully Remote - Outside IR35

We are searching for an OpenEdge DBA for a 6-month contact. The role is fully remote and should extend onwards. This role will be outside IR35.

Core Database Administration:

• Experience with OpenEdge RDBMS versions 11 and 12
• Deep understanding of Progress OpenEdge RDBMS architecture.
• Installation, configuration, and upgrade of OpenEdge environments.
• Database creation, maintenance, and migration.
• Schema management and version control.

Backup and Recovery:

• Implementation of reliable backup and recovery strategies.
• Use of OpenEdge utilities such as probkup, prorest, and dbtool.
• Knowledge of after-imaging and OpenEdge Replication for data protection.

Performance Monitoring and Tuning:

• Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
• Proactive monitoring of database health using OpenEdge tools (eg, promon, prostrct).
• Identification and resolution of bottlenecks and resource issues.

Security and Access Management:

• Implementation of user authentication and access controls.
• Knowledge of OpenEdge auditing and security features.
• Best practices for securing data at rest and in transit.

Automation and Scripting:

• Scripting skills for task automation (eg, Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Job scheduling and automation with tools like cron or airflow.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery:

• Setup and management of OpenEdge Replication (Standard and Plus).
• Planning and executing disaster recovery drills.
• Experience with clustering and failover solutions.
