If you're looking to shape the future of satellite communications — not just contribute to it — this role could be the right move.

This is a chance to join a small UK team at the start of something ambitious: designing and building next-generation space communication systems, grounded in proven architecture but with a clean slate to innovate. You’ll be hands-on with digital telecom systems, deeply involved in the system-level thinking, and part of a company that values engineers who want responsibility and visibility.

You’ll be working across the entire comms stack — from digital baseband through to RF — in collaboration with a team that values rigor, curiosity, and the drive to make things work in the most unforgiving environments.

In this role, you will:

  • Define, design, and validate advanced satellite communication systems
  • Develop digital telecom architectures for low-power, space-grade applications
  • Contribute to RF and signal processing development for satellite payloads
  • Run system-level analyses and trade studies to inform engineering decisions
  • Work closely with colleagues across payload, computing, and systems engineering teams
  • Ensure the system meets mission requirements through robust testing and integration

We’re looking for:

  • Background in telecoms, space / satellite systems, or RF engineering
  • Experience developing satellite communications systems, from concept to deployment
  • Understanding of digital modulation, RF propagation, and system integration
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in complex comms environments
  • A collaborative mindset and a desire to contribute technically, not just manage

Nice to have:

  • Experience with software-defined radios and / or FPGA-based signal processing
  • Familiarity with ESA project delivery, or space industry standards

Why this role? You’ll be doing technical work that matters — pushing the boundaries of how space systems connect — and you’ll be part of a team where your ideas and contributions are visible. It’s a role for someone who wants to lead by doing without.
