We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Senior Site Manager to oversee the delivery of residential projects within our growing construction portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing large-scale residential schemes from groundworks through to completion, ideally within a main contracting environment. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day site operations, managing subcontractors, trades, and site staff to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery.
- Take full responsibility for health and safety on site, ensuring all practices comply with legislation and company policy.
- Manage site logistics, including materials coordination, access control, and programme adherence.
- Interpret and implement drawings, specifications, and construction plans, ensuring build quality meets design intent and client expectations.
- Drive project schedules, identify potential delays early, and implement corrective actions to maintain progress.
- Coordinate with the commercial team on procurement schedules, cost control, and variations.
- Conduct regular progress meetings with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee quality control processes, snagging, and handover procedures.
- Mentor junior site managers and site-based staff, supporting team development and performance.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in site management within the construction industry, including strong experience on residential schemes (traditional build and/or RC frame).
- Solid background with main contractors delivering multi-unit residential or mixed-use developments.
- SMSTS, CSCS (Black Card), and First Aid at Work certification.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 6 or higher in Construction Management or equivalent.
- Experience managing projects valued at £10m+.
- Previous involvement in design & build projects and working with housing associations or private developers.
