As the Senior Project Controls Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the establishment of the programme, monitoring, control and reporting systems to comply with the Contract, and to facilitate the successful delivery of a Major Project. You will use your knowledge and experience to support the most efficient and effective delivery of the project. We would also consider a Project Controls Engineer ready to step up. The role is based in Teesside with a requirement to be on site as a minimum 3 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Production of weekly & monthly reports, ensuring they are validated and submitted to suit both internal and external reporting requirements.
- Ensure that project controls processes are consistently applied across the project and ensuring overall integration of performance information.
- Support governance to ensure robust cost and schedule performance.
- Responsible for undertaking Earned value Analysis.
- Ensuring the basis of Estimates at Completion (EAC) is predicted using industry recognised approaches, including but not limited to, the latest resourced schedule and EVM productivity as to ensure accurate, reliable and consistent forecasting.
- Propose Key Performance Indicators and how these will be monitored.
- Support and advise on the definition of Project Controls, procedures and standards.
- Support the development of requirements for specific resource-loaded schedules.
- Work closely with the Project Controls Manager and Commercial Manager to maximise the potential of the project.
- Coach/support junior members of the team.
- Support the identification and implement best practices, procedure and tools and systems for project controls.
- Support risk and opportunities management.
- Contribute to the preparation and delivery of training.
- Responsible for supporting facilities Contractors with their Project Controls requirements and auditing their procedures as required.
- Ensure the reasons for, and the factors influencing each change to the project's baseline plan, plus the implications of such changes, are understood and communicated to the wider project team.
- Challenging schedule and cost variances against the baseline plan.
- Support the integration of 3rd party schedules and data into the overall project plan and delivery.
- Regular interfacing and integration with the commercial team to maintain an aligned financial position with the Project Plan.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND ideally in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience.
- Project controls experience.
- Proficient in the interpretation of cost, estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools.
- Earned value management.
- Cost control and forecasting.
- Project reporting.
- Effective communication within team and with stakeholders.
- High level of numeracy and excellent analytical skills.
- Management of Change, identification, analysis and evaluation.
