An established and innovative manufacturer of bespoke machinery is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technician to join their production team. This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role within a fast-paced engineering environment, ideal for someone who enjoys variety and technical challenges.

The Role

  • Assemble, test, and commission machinery ahead of pre-delivery factory acceptance tests
  • Mechanical fitting of custom-built machines
  • Interpret and work from engineering/technical drawings
  • Install and integrate components such as motors, gearboxes, belts, bearings, and pneumatic/automation systems
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Maintain a strong understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Apply basic IT skills in daily operations
  • Support development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Contribute to team training and development efforts
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults in machinery (desirable)

The Candidate

  • Strong mechanical engineering background
  • Experience in machinery commissioning and bespoke machine assembly
  • Relevant engineering qualifications or apprenticeship served
  • Skilled in machining processes such as turning and milling
  • Desirable: Forklift driving certification and working at height experience
  • Bonus: Experience with PLCs and automation systems
