The role has been set up to develop operational excellence within the business to create an independent operational team to lessen the day to day involvement of the company Directors to allow them to focus on market and innovation activities for the delivery of strategic growth.
This is a hands-on leadership/continuous improvement project management role contained within two small manufacturing and storage units with a small team. Space availability is limited, and efficiency improvements are required in all areas for better resource utilisation to realise the business's full potential.
Leadership of the end to end business value stream and small team to provide efficient and profitable operations, including customer service, planning, scheduling, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, logistics, stock control and warehouse management.
Leading, coaching and developing the team, addressing HR and performance issues. Creating a positive work environment with a continuous improvement mindset.
Ensure compliance of ERP and project management digital processes. Take the lead for the further development of these processes.
Identify and implement strategies for improved efficiency, waste reduction, efficient space utilisation/flow, and manufacturing efficiency. Use of lean and problem-solving tools and methodology.
Ensure SOPs are easy to follow, understood and deployed. Creation of standard work processes that are easy to train and allow for the flexing of labour requirements to meet fluctuations in demand.
Efficiently manage resources in respect to material procurement, equipment and stock control. Ensure optimal resource utilisation.
Ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations, implementing and enforcing safety protocols throughout the business. Ensuring full company compliance to quality standards, ensuring products meet requirements. Drive the business towards ISO and GMP compliance.
Provide clear and effective communication throughout the team to provide seamless operations. Efficient problem solving to root cause identification with defined actions deployed to eliminate repeat concerns.
Setting and monitoring key performance indicators that will drive continuous improvement. Developing departmental budgets, controlling costs and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
Prepare operational performance reports for Director assessment. Work with company Directors to project manage the process of taking NPD concepts to volume manufacture. Further develop the operations strategy for the business that is aligned with the Director top-level strategy.
