We are looking for a candidate to support our global consulting practice and report to the Chief Consulting Officer.
Location: 100% Remote, Considering Candidates in the UK & Ireland
Summary: The role holder will be responsible for effectively assigning and managing resources for client projects, ensuring that our global teams are equipped with the right talent and skills to deliver exceptional results. The Consulting Resource Manager will collaborate closely with the Chief Consulting Officer, Managing Principals, Principals, and Consultants to optimize resource allocation, maximize efficiency, and support the successful global execution of client engagements across various industries. They will also work closely with the Senior People Partner to hire and onboard the required talent.
The Role:
- Collaborate with Chief Consulting Officer, Managing Principals, Principals, and Consultants to understand project requirements, timelines, and resource needs.
- Assign resources to client projects based on project scope, client expectations, and team capabilities, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
- Monitor and manage resource allocations to balance workload, prioritize assignments, and optimize team productivity.
- Monitor and maintain a current understanding of performance and utilization trends through data analysis.
- Ensure 80% of staff billable hours are submitted through Openair for precise tracking and addressing capacity variances.
- Utilize Power BI to compile and present comprehensive utilization reports for various meetings, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
- Coordinate regular meetings with the CCO and Principals to discuss open needs and project pipeline, performance data, utilization trends, gather insights, and collaboratively develop action plans for staff development, working with People and Culture.
- Engage in end-of-year performance review sessions, providing necessary information to relationship leaders regarding individual utilization and performance.
- Distribute and monitor survey results to evaluate new skills acquired by consultants from recent project engagements to enable skillset gaps to be identified, enabling timely hiring to meet future demands.
- Monitor projects start and end dates and follow up with relevant points of contact to determine staff extensions, ensure compliance with start dates, or coordinate roll-offs.
- Utilize Openair for blending and preparing data to generate utilization tracking reports.
- Conduct thorough utilization and optimization reviews to assess the performance and growth opportunities of team members.
- Monitor staff compliance levels and proactively address individuals whose compliance falls below the threshold.
- Manage Openair to update schedules, monitor time off, track utilization, and input new forecast information.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of team members' skills, strengths, and availability to facilitate optimal resource allocation.
- Coordinate staffing needs, recruit external talent, and onboard new team members as required.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle and resource management principles, with the ability to anticipate project needs and allocate resources accordingly.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work under pressure.
- Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, engaging team members and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Experience with resource management tools and software (e.g., Open Air and Workday Adaptive) is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in resource management, workforce planning, or project management, preferably in a consulting or professional services environment.
