A large UK cable supplier is seeking a Transport Manager to manage a fleet of varying-sized vehicles and help improve business growth. The Transport Manager will have previous experience working in a similar position and have experience in multi-drop distribution. In addition, the Transport Manager will have good geographical knowledge, experience in fleet compliance such as FORS, and excellent leadership, communication and managerial skills. Applications from ex-military personnel are strongly encouraged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for 25 commercial vehicles and company cars of varying sizes
- Brief / debrief drivers
- Assist with the raising of purchase orders
- Record keeping
- Occasionally assist in disciplinary procedures
- Promote positive HSE culture
- Manage investigations into any operational incidents
- Seek continuous improvements in all areas of performance, including vehicle utilisation and running efficiencies, repair and maintenance spend, training and compliance
- Monitor vehicle defects and driver infringements
- Keep a clean and well-maintained fleet and monitor driver standards
- Liaise with warehouse/production operations managers
- Oversee administrative responsibilities of the department, rotas, disciplinaries, holidays, absenteeism, recruitment, etc.
Knowledge, skills and qualifications:
Essential:
- Have previous work experience as a Transport Manager
- Previous experience in multi-drop distribution
- Is experienced in FORS and any other relevant compliance in fleet management
- Good geographical knowledge
- Excellent leadership, communication, time and organisational skills
- Strong attention to detail and character
- Proactive and adaptable
- Driven, focused, customer orientated, and commercially aware
Desirables:
- Lorry Loader experience
Salary: £45,000 to £50,000
