The Role: This is an opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of projects from initial enquiry through to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and drafting industrial low voltage control systems, ensuring customer requirements are met with precision and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpreting customer specifications and requirements to produce high-quality designs.
- Creating and issuing accurate quotes to customers.
- Acting as the key point of contact for project-related queries.
- Designing safe and effective low voltage control systems, including bill of materials management.
- Producing engineering drawings (schematics, layouts, harnesses) and technical documentation.
- Supporting production teams and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conducting site visits, inspections, and customer meetings as required.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant safety and engineering standards.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry developments and best practices.

Essential Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial electrical control system design.
- Strong background in industrial control panels, ideally within heavy industrial machinery.
- Proficiency with electrical CAD software for drafting and design.
- Experience in customer-facing roles and project coordination.
- Ability to create and manage technical and engineering documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to specify components and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Competence in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Engineering qualification at Level 3 or equivalent experience (apprenticeship/training acceptable).
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Professional registration (IEng or CEng).
- Experience with PLC software programming and commissioning.
- Knowledge of functional safety and related standards.
- Previous experience in wiring, site installation, or machinery commissioning.
- HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
