A well-established company is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day finance operations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting payroll, and contributing to the overall financial integrity of the business. Proficiency in Sage 50 is essential, along with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers and vendors
  • Maintaining and reconciling financial records using Sage 50
  • Processing sales and purchase ledger invoices and credit notes (GBP, EUR, USD)
  • Reviewing monthly HMRC postponed VAT statements and reconciling them with internal systems
  • Managing payroll for up to 20 staff, including processing timesheets, contracts, leavers, and pension contributions
  • Assisting with monthly profit and loss accounts and supporting year-end processes
  • Liaising with external accountants and posting necessary adjustments
  • Upholding financial compliance and confidentiality at all times
  • Providing general administrative support as required

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in a bookkeeping or finance support role
  • Strong knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts and Microsoft Excel
  • High level of accuracy in data entry and financial processing
  • Solid understanding of ledgers, payroll systems, and VAT processes
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced office environment
