Elevation Recruitment Group is pleased to be working with a forging business near Matlock to recruit a Pre-Heat Machinist. This role involves working with materials from the Forge department, machining forgings according to specified drawings, operating CNC and manual machines, and coordinating with the Heat Treatment department.
Location: Matlock
Salary: £38,277
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 2-week rota:
- Week 1: Monday to Friday, 06:00–14:00
- Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 14:00–Midnight
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate both manual and CNC machines.
- Machine parts to meet technical drawings and specifications.
- Communicate with the Forge and Heat Treatment departments to plan workload.
- Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, wall thickness meters, and surface roughness gauges.
- Ensure Health & Safety compliance and conduct pre-shift H&S checks.
- Maintain high standards of workplace housekeeping.
- Follow quality procedures and processes.
- Plan work to optimise machine utilisation.
- Book out work and time against specific jobs.
- Manage material movements.
- Cross-train in other front-end positions as required.
- Carry out additional ad-hoc duties.
- Provide flexibility across pre-heat and radius cells to meet customer needs.
Requirements:
- CNC Turning experience.
- Ability to machine to tolerances of +/- 0.05mm.
- Understanding of Fanuc controls.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Competent basic IT skills.
- Apprentice trained (desirable).
- Experience with manual milling/turning (desirable).
- Overhead Crane, FLT, and Abrasive Wheel training (desirable).
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
