ISQ Recruitment is working with a growing engineering business based in Norfolk to find a reliable and skilled CNC Setter-Operator to join their operations team. Due to the location of the site, own transport is essential.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role where you'll be setting and operating CNC machines to produce components to tight tolerances. You'll be working on a variety of work orders, including batch runs and one-off parts, and will be expected to carry out your own quality checks using metrology equipment. The role also involves general workshop responsibilities, maintaining a safe and tidy working environment, and occasionally liaising with engineers to discuss component design or manufacturability.
What You'll Be Doing
- Set up and operate CNC machines to produce components to specification
- Work on scheduled production batches and one-off prototypes
- Use measuring equipment to inspect parts and ensure tolerances are met
- Read and interpret technical engineering drawings
- Communicate with engineers and designers regarding components and capabilities
- Carry out routine maintenance and general housekeeping of machines and the workshop
- Operate other machinery as required (e.g. drill press, grinders, lathe)
- Follow all Health & Safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong CNC machine setting experience
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Confident inspecting own work using measurement tools
- Comfortable working to tight tolerances
- Organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Conversational programming knowledge (Mazatrol ideal)
- Positive attitude to safety, housekeeping, and timekeeping
Desirable:
- Experience with Mazak Mazatrol Smooth G controls
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g. Hypermill)
- Tooling knowledge (feeds, speeds, and supplier selection)
- Understanding of metrology best practices
