GemPool Recruitment is hiring a Commercial Manager on behalf of a leading organisation in the data centre industry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee commercial operations, manage procurement processes, and drive cost efficiency across key projects in the UK. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring financial control and strategic cost management within a fast-paced project environment.
- Support the Senior Commercial Manager in overseeing all aspects of UK project delivery.
- Travel as required to project sites or the London office.
- Manage relationships with external Quantity Surveying (QS) consultants, ensuring clear deliverables, performance monitoring, and timely escalation of issues.
- Organise and oversee General Contractor (GC) procurement processes, including pre-qualification, tender preparation, analysis, selection, and contract documentation.
- Reconcile project cost plans and business cases upon contract awards.
- Develop and maintain cash flow documentation for project expenditure tracking.
- Contribute to risk registers, lessons learned documentation, and project reporting.
- Negotiate final accounts and resolve financial claims with contractors.
- Collaborate with internal asset management and investment teams for effective reporting.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant IT tools. Solid understanding of construction industry standards, contract administration, procurement processes, and value management. Degree in Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, with a mix of contractor and consultancy experience (desirable). Experience in cost management for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) and CSA (Civil, Structural, Architectural) disciplines (desirable). Proven ability to manage cost planning and procurement across the full project lifecycle. Experience in data centre construction or high-tech projects (desirable).
